Spring Break Picture Overload

Last week was spring break for Cooper. We went to Chattanooga with our friends Thursday and Friday to do some fun activities with the kids. When we first got there, we headed to the Creative Discovery Museum. This is the perfect place for 4 year olds! So many interactive and fun activities to see and do. We even ran into a friend from Cooper's preschool class there. Also, I have to say how great it was to see Cooper and Ben together here. I am not quite as mobile as I used to be, so it was so fun to see the two of them have such a great time together.

Loving the water play station

#1 favorite activity- digging for dinosaurs

Semi-enthusiastic about the Music Arts section playing the harp

Having fun in the Inventor's Clubhouse section of the museum-- an engineer and a future engineer (?) at work...

HOCKEY!!! (A hit for both Cooper and Ben)

After the Museum we headed over to the Tennessee Aquarium. Although the aquarium in Atlanta is newer, we all agreed that we liked this one better. There was a good flow to how you see the exhibits and it was nice that there were two separate buildings-- one for the 'regular' type fish, another one for sharks, penguins, and a butterfly exhibit.

They had lots of these domes where the kids could crawl in and feel like they were inside the tank.

Checking out Boris, a Beluga Sturgeon. His mate Doris was sick and not in the tank the day we were there. I learned a lot from an employee who told us that these are the only ones on display in North America. They typically live in the Black, Caspian, or Adriatic Seas, Beluga Sturgeon are the source of beluga caviar.

Funny faces in the Penguin exhibit

Friday the weather was supposed to be better than Thursday, which had been rainy, but it ended up being very COLD! Cooper was grumpy to start out the day and very contrary. We headed to Lookout Mountain to try out the Incline Railway. It's the steepest passenger railway around and has operated since 1895. It's a National Historic site and Mechanical Engineering Landmark. But, the kids were more excited about being on a tram like Toby than any of those particulars.

Cooper showing off a super grumpy face on the way up

Yes, it's steep-- about a 73% grade at the steepest points

A family picture at the top

Happier on the way back down (after a few time outs at the top)

After that, we all went to Cheeburger Cheeburger for lunch which was a great spot for the kids- loud, a good kid's menu, and the kids meals are served in classic cars. I was not careful about what I ate here- a burger, onion rings, and Ben and I split a shake after lunch. Good thing the scale did not reflect this on Monday at my appointment on Monday. We headed back home after lunch and Cooper napped the whole way back. He is already asking when he can go back to Chattanooga, so I think it's safe to say this was a winning trip for him.

Looks like fun! I think I went up that mountain as a kid. Did it have an alpine slide to go back down? It was somewhere near Chattanooga, anyway!

Wow, that looks like so much fun. I'm pretty sure that Michael would have loved to join you for all of those activities. Water play, trains, sharks, and digging for dinosaurs? That's simply little boy heaven!

I cannot believe you squeezed so much fun into so little time. You must have been exhausted. The kids would be jealous of the whole trip - the museum looks super cool, the aquarium and the railway look fun and yummy food to boot.
