Tired

Now I remember why I'm such a schedule enforcer with Cooper...

He's such an early riser waking up generally around 5:30 every morning. We had a few good days during my mom's visit where he slept until 6/6:30 and even 7:00 one day. But, that's definitely not the norm around here.  All the advice of pushing his bedtime back slowly in order to get him to sleep in has never worked for him. He just seems to be hard-wired to wake up early no matter what. I thought he may have been growing out of this when he slept in a few days in a row while my mom was here, but after this weekend I don't think that's the case.

We had lots of fun activities this weekend- First up was a Halloween costume party Friday night at daycare from 7-8:30.  Thursday of this week Cooper finally decided that wearing a costume was not such a bad idea and wore his golfer costume happily- yay!  He had a great time at the party and I'll post pictures soon. But, he was up way late because we did not leave the party until 8:15 pm. Normally he's in bed around 7:30. We skipped a bath even though it was a bath night and popped him into bed shortly after getting home. Saturday morning he was awake at 5:15 saying.  He took a pretty regular 2 hour nap in the afternoon. Saturday evening we had dinner plans with some friends in town. We chose David's Tavern for dinner because they have a kid's room which Cooper loves- he gets to eat 'toddler food' (chicken nuggets is his food of choice there) and play with toys and other kids his age (while being supervised by competent babysitters too) and we get an adult meal with friends. Our reservations were for 6 and service was really slow so we didn't get out of there until 8:30. Since we skipped a bath on Friday, Cooper really needed a bath, so he ended up going to bed around 9:15/9:30.  Guess what I heard over the monitor at 5:45... "I have to go potty Mommy!".  So I got up and he used the potty. After that both Ben and I tried to get Cooper back to sleep for the next couple of hours with no luck. Wide awake, singing the alphabet, counting his numbers, ready to play.  Did I mention that he has also had a slight cough which after two nights of shortened sleep is more pronounced now? I was awake from 1-3 last night with him coughing as well. We are TIRED today. Cooper is currently napping, hopefully a good solid nap, he needs it so much. Tonight it's back to his regular bedtime and I'm back to a schedule enforcer.

On the coughing front, I think it may be a cold, and I hope it clears up soon. At least we know it's not the ears at this point since his tubes are still in and functioning well. Cooper and I picked out a new humidifier today so hopefully that helps him sleep better too.

I hope Cooper is feeling ok!!!

That restaurant sounds great (despite the wait). What an orignial idea to have a "kids" room which is supervised so parents can have a nice dinner!

The kids room is great, and Cooper really enjoys it. He was so excited when I told him we were going to David's for dinner. :) Usually they are not so slow, so I don't know what was up with that last night.
