Bailey is 7, and in the last year has developed some severe anxiety. Simple things like the coffee pot making coffee freaks her out and she paces around like crazy. We have had to start kenneling her in her crate when we leave the house because she ate/scratched some of the woodwork around the door to the garage in our house. We're trying to work the Cesar Milan exercise/discipline/affection routine with minimal results. I think she needs the dog equivalent of Xanex. She looks sweet and innocent in the picture above, but not so much last night. We had thunderstorms and lately those are freaking her out. She paced around our room, whined, etc. I took her up to the guest room so Ben could sleep, and ended up being up with her almost all night. We are frustrated and tired of dealing with her issues. A trip to the vet is coming up for her yearly shots so maybe s/he will have some answers. I need some sleep!

Poor guy! This is yet another reason I am not ready for a dog.
We had a 100 pound German Shepard with anxiety issues. I think everyone would have been happier if my dad had agreed to give her Prozac. She got so bad that she could not be left alone without either going through a screen, eating the siding off the house, or breaking her teeth trying to chew through the chain my dad had to use to keep her in the yard when he went up to the beach to swim.
Definitely talk to the vet about it. You don't want it to escalate.
