We spent the weekend in Atlanta with the main purpose of taking Cooper to the Atlanta Aquarium. We had a blast! Cooper loved seeing all the fish, turtles, sharks, and we even made it through the entire 4D (3D with in-theater effects) movie. I was not sure how he would do since we have not attempted to take him to a movie yet, and this one was a good chance to test run it since it was only 20 minutes. However, during those 2o minutes of 3D movie they also spray you with water, bubbles float in the room, and they spray you with air. After the first time that the fish popped out of the screen and they sprayed everyone with water Cooper let out a huge scream. But, he was interested in the movie too, so he stuck it out. Toward the end he was sitting on my lap, but he made it to the end and talked a lot about the movie he saw in 3D. He loved the huge tunnel in the Ocean Voyager section with the whale sharks, seeing the diver in the tropical section, and the loggerhead sea turtle -- "It looks just like Crush, Mommy!" We also added the planet shark exhibit to the regular admission and while that was cool for us, I think it was a little intimidating for Cooper. It was dark, they had clips of Jaws playing in some places, and he was not interested in trying out the shark cages. The only downside was that I had promised penguins, and I did not realize that the only way you could see the penguins was to do the behind the scenes tour which was $50 extra per person. So, no penguins this trip. But, Cooper had a great time and took home his own stuffed whale shark and baby whale shark to remember the trip. One thing we did right was to get there right when they open at 9. We had the place to ourselves for a while, Cooper had free reign at the touch pool with the rays and sharks. He opted to not touch any of the creatures this time, but it was nice to have it almost to ourselves. By the time we were done seeing everything it was getting really crowded.

That sounds like such a fun movie! Analese would love that. We love aquariums!
Sounds like a great trip. I really want to take the boys to Atlanta for a trip but since it's about 6 hours for us, I want to wait until they're a little older and can do more.
How soon is the half?
Looks like fun! We went to the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, Tn when we lived outside of Nashville. If you get the chance while you are in Tn, check it out. It was by far the greatest aquarium we had ever been to. We hope to take the kids someday.
Looks like fun!
