Cooper is the shortest one on his team and is wearing the #1 jersey because of that fact. He's happy to be the #1 jersey, and being short doesn't stop him from being a fast runner, so there's that. Last night he got out on second on his first time at bat, and then scored a run on each of his next two turns at bat. For outfield, he asked to play catcher for a while and enjoyed that, played second base, and first base so he got a wide variety of positions to test out. At the end of each game his coach hands out a game ball to someone who did a great job, and last night that was Cooper! He earned it by catching the ball at first and getting the last out of the game. He says it won the game, but it really didn't, their team was up 14-8, it just happened to be the last play of the game. Neither of us had the heart to break the news to him that he didn't win the game for his team, so we're letting him have his moment for now! The only downside to this whole thing is that I had already left to take Abby home when he got the runner out at first at the end of the game. There's another game on Saturday, and a whole season ahead so I'm sure there will be more to come.
