Abby this morning
Cooper at the fountain outside the library yesterday
I feel like it's been forever since I have posted anything! It's been wild, but a good wild lately. I am so behind on keeping with both this blog any anything computer, tv, news, or pop culture anything it's not even funny. I am also pretty sleep deprived- so much so that I had started our Father's Day celebration last Sunday. Whoops. Didn't realize it was the 20th and not the 13th. I guess Ben lucks out and gets to celebrate two weeks in a row? :)
Abby is doing well and growing like a weed! After the horrible bout with mastitis that seemed to never end I ended up stopping nursing. I have many mixed feelings on this, but I know that I gave it the best possible effort I could to keep it up. Abby has been such a surprise in so many ways. She was born with lots of dark hair and a beautiful dark(er) complexion than I ever imagined she would have. Since Ben and I are both really pale, and Cooper is pale like us, and was pretty much bald when he was born I expected the same from her. She also has super long fingers and really skinny long feet. Overall she's pretty long and thin. Her personality is sweet and laid back so far although she's not afraid to let you know when she wants something. She is much more a paci baby than Cooper ever was, but it's still hit and miss with one. She is very strong and rolled over a couple of days ago! She sometimes has a fussy time in the evening between 7 and 10, I would not consider it colic, but maybe like 'colic lite'. It's sporadic when she has that time, and it's not full on crying, just some general fussiness. I know it's early, but I swear she had real smiles for both Cooper and I yesterday. So cute, I think both our hearts melted a little bit. She is sleeping at night decent- some nights she is up twice, but more often than not it's 3 times. Thankfully Ben and I work together on the overnight shift. Cooper is totally in love with her-- he loves to give her kisses and any time she is awake he wants to talk to her and interact with her. It's really sweet to see the two of them together. Cooper is having some other issues with the adjustment to having a little sister because of the changes on my time demands and Ben's. So, last week we instituted a behavior chart for him and it seems to be helping. If he gets enough yeses and few enough no's he gets a reward at the end of the week. Last week it was mini-golfing with Ben. This week if he makes it I am taking him to see Toy Story 3 in the theaters. Fingers crossed that he is well behaved because I want to see it too! He does seem very motivated to get a yes, so that may be an oldest sibling attribute coming out.
As for me, this time around maternity leave is going great. So much more enjoyable than the last time. It's not that I didn't like the time off with Cooper, but it was just different. This time I feel like I know what I am doing better than last time. Not that it's not crazy lots of times, because it is, but I like it.
In other news, it's been HOT here the last few days. High 90's with humidity. We have had to pull out the Lightning McQueen slip n slide a few afternoons and make a few trips to the pool with Cooper. Summer is here!

Wonderful! Abby is so cute! I am glad to hear that everything is going (relatively) smooth with 2. Enjoy the rest of your Mat Leave!
That is a gorgeous picture of Abby. Sounds you like you are adjusting quite well and it is a trip how different each baby's personality can be. Sorry you had to quit nursing but I am glad you are feeling better from the mastitis.
