Edited to add- Maria asked a really good question about what Cooper has suggested for baby names. He started out with Lily and Lauren (and a few others of girls in his preschool class), but he has settled on GRAPEFRUIT. He tells everyone his baby sister will be named Grapefruit and it has stuck- now we call her Grapefruit too since we don't have another name picked out yet. One of his teachers at preschool wanted to know if I knew he was telling his friends and teachers about "grapefruit" and how funny she thought it was.

Name Game EDITED
You know we're going to have to make a name change here at "The Cooper and Bailey Report" come May 18th (or somewhere around there), right? Bailey will get relegated back to dog status rather than 4 legged furry child and our new little girl will add her name. The question is, what will her name be? Ben and I cannot decide. I thought back when we were trying to decide on a boy's name for Cooper that it was so easy to pick a girl name. WRONG! Nothing seems to be the right fit so far. There is some talk from our families for use of my middle name (Marie) for her middle name since it would honor family for both Ben and I, but I am not ready to commit to that just yet. We have about 10 names (seriously 10!) on a list that we go between, but in no way are we in agreement enough to pick one or even just a few of those to narrow it down. How do you find the right balance of classic and yet not boring, not too common but not too far out there? With Cooper we ended up knowing his middle name first (James, also Ben's middle name and his grandfather's middle name) and had two first name choices (Cooper or Henry) when we went to the hospital and chose the one that seemed right for him after he was born. If we could get it down to two names that would be OK with me, but so far that hasn't happened. Lots of things are ready for this new little girl- her room is almost all done, she has a closet full of clothes, a big brother excited for her arrival, yet no name. If I could get it down to just a few maybe I can add a poll and have everyone vote...

I went to the library and checked out tons of baby name books. We had it all narrowed down to a girl name and boy name then we found out it was two boys, had to go back to the drawing board.
That was PAINFUL. We ranked everything and had multiple vetos. Our final four was:
1. Alex (I vetoed bc my good friend just had a baby named Alex)
2. Nate (Jon vetoed bc his name is Jon-Nathan
3. Tom
4. Tim
Since we didn't want our kids to be Tim and Tom, we decided to reverse the vetoes. But it took a week of arguing.
Be careful asking for opinions because you'll get them! LOL.
I still have my girl name picked out. Maybe some day!
Ha, that's true Lindsey. Get what you ask for right?
I used to be totally set on Lauren Elizabeth (back when I didn't know if Cooper was a boy or a girl) but this time it just doesn't seem like the right fit.
Laura- good call on the books. I scoped out a few at Barnes and Noble, but I had Cooper with me at the time so it was short attention span theater.
OHH I would love to hear them..I have about 10 girl names, for if I ever have a girl..When I was preggers w/ B the day we went for the 20 wk u/s I was hoping for a girl b/c I didn't have any boy names...and OF COURSE we found out BOY!!
Girl names are hard! I hve about 6 baby name books that we are definitely done with if you want me to send them to you. Did you ask Cooper what her name should be? Lilly actually picked Maya's name.
Naming is such a difficult and daunting task. But it is so worth it when you find the right name! I would love to vote on your poll. Good luck, and have fun with it!
Maria- good question, I should edit my post to include Cooper's choice for his sister's name (GRAPEFRUIT).
I love Lily!
I would love to hear the names too!! We had Michael's name picked out for years (named after Todd). We decided on Katherine Marie after we found out it was a girl. And it was a good thing she was a girl because we didn't have a clue on a boy name!
When I was pregnant with Cam we were stuck between three names. I would have my daughter yell it from the back seat while we were in the car for about a week. I figured that I was going to hear her yelling at him for the next million years so if after a week I still liked the name the it was a keeper.
