Fall Break

Every year the kids get a week off of school around the beginning of October for fall break. It's a hold over from when they had more of a year-round school calendar and we hope it stays on the calendar for many more years. I love this time of year because we use this time to take our family beach trip. Its a week we all look forward to the whole year. The first week of October is ideal (for us) because it's less busy with most kids in school, it's not quite so hot so you can actually be out on the beach all day, and we have the chance to go with our friends! Last year we went with our friends that have become like family, and this year we got to go with them again and two other of our besties families in TN. There were 8 adults and 7 kids between all of us. There is nothing better to entertain kids (or at least our kids) than the beach! Last year Abby was too little to enjoy it much, but this year she really got into playing in the sand and the water. She again proved herself to be fearless of pretty much anything and everything. Cooper had the best time building sand castles, going on seashell hunts, and learning to use the boogie board. We did very little other than the beach and it was wonderful! One day the guys went golfing, another day the girls went shopping, and we took the kids miniature golfing once. We ate out a little, but mostly shared the cooking and each family provided a lunch and a dinner for the group. If only every week could be so relaxing! We are already looking forward to our beach trip next year!
