A Feeble Attempt to Catch Up

So, it's been a while huh? Lots to catch up on! Since the last time I posted Abby and I took a trip to Texas to meet my new nephew Nathan and visit the rest of my family. We had a fun trip! At the same time, Cooper went to visit Grandma and Papa O for a week on his own- his second summer in a row! He loves this week in the summer and gets so excited to be a big boy and spend a week with Grandma and Papa on his own. Of course the spoiling he gets while he's there helps some too- he got to go fishing, boating, horseback riding, and have a campfire cookout as well as lots of other fun activities. He loves it!

After that, July was coming to a close. August 4 Ben and I celebrated 10 years of being married! We took an amazing trip to Paris for a few days to celebrate. It still seems unreal to me that we went. It was so much fun and a great trip for both of us.

Cooper started kindergarten and so far is thriving. He tested and was accepted to a magnet school in town and seems to be having a ball. The only downside he has found with kindergarten is that he misses out on play time at home. He has mentioned a number of times how he doesn't have time to watch his favorite tv show or play as much. He's making up for it with t-ball and is trying soccer this fall for the first time.

As for Abby, she is keeping us on our toes. Actually, that's probably a huge understatement. It's pretty much Tornado Abby at home! She is such a fun little girl, but is really into everything! She had been teething since July, and now has 4 molars that have come through as well as a handful of other teeth. Right now I think she's on a teething break thankfully. She knows quite a few words- favorites are dog, monkey, diaper, trash, socks, milk, snack and her very favorite word SHOES. This girl is obsessed with shoes. And accessories for that matter. One of my prior posts was a vent about her mother's day out program, so I should update on that as well. I spoke with the director who was so, so nice and apologetic about the miscommunication. My only lingering issue was with the assistant teacher and whether she could handle a class of young kids who can be unpredictable, and that was resolved as she is no longer teaching in Abby's class. So, what started out rough has turned out to be good. Abby really enjoys spending time with other children her age, and loves her teachers.

As we head into fall we have lots to look forward to -- hopefully I can keep up to date here too! Here are a few recent pictures of the kids:

Glad to see you back! Sophia loves shoes too, or "thoos" as she calls them.
