Health Update

My last post was about Cooper's fever and ear infection. Since that time he went downhill again, the rash got worse, fever stayed high even with alternating Tylenol/ibuprofen. Sunday we took him to the ER, Monday, back to the pediatrician;s office, with another follow up with his actual pediatrician on Tuesday. Cooper had a persistently high fever along with a rash that kept spreading, and his pediatrician thought it was best to send him to Children's Hospital Boston to be further evaluated. So, Tuesday afternoon Cooper was admitted and we're still here. His fever is down, rash is getting better, yet nothing definitive on what's causing it. One of the concerns with a prolonged elevated fever and other symptoms is Kawasaki disease, so while here Cooper has had both an EKG and a Echo of his heart. Both were normal, so Kawasaki is out. The remaining culprits are either a really nasty virus, some type of bacterial issue, or possibly an allergic reaction to the antibiotic he was prescribed last Friday. We're waiting on some blood work to know for sure what's going on, but it's been a very rough week. I have a lot to say about the hospital, staff, all the student doctors that want to poke and prod him, and how Cooper has been such a trooper through all of this, and has tolerated all the pokes and prods and tests and IVs so well, but right now I'm not able to get it all down. I just need to hold him and let him know things will be OK.

I can't even imagine how stressed out and frustrated you must be. I hope they figure things out soon and that Cooper is feeling better quickly.
