Yankee Homecoming Continues

Last night was the bed races as part of Yankee Homecoming. Yes, it's still going on and will be through Sunday. Bed races are pretty much exactly what they sound like- teams of people that race a bed down the street. Any ISU alums that participated in Greek Week will know what I'm talking about- remember those races around Sorority Circle? Pretty much like that except it's on a straight downhill street in town, and I think the racers are a little more cautious than we were back in the day. Anyway, we thought Cooper might enjoy getting out to see the races. He had enjoyed Tuesday night's outing to see Ben run in the 5K race so another fun, free, entertaining event sounded like a good idea.

As soon as we got out of the car it started pouring down rain. Lots of soaking rain. We took shelter under a store awning with a crowd of others in our same situation. Two little girls were darting out into the rain and running back laughing all the way. Cooper took notice- up until now he hasn't liked being in the rain. Once he saw those two small girls running in and out it was all over from there- it's his new favorite activity. He kept asking: 'go through it?' and ran around in the rain for a while. After a while I finally took off his shoes and socks and I did have a spare set of clothes in his diaper bag with me, so he ended up dry after the rain stopped.

Here are some pictures of the event... first the non-Cooper photos...

Please excuse my rain soaked look here and the weird camera glare, just had to include this one of McDreamy who made an 'appearance' on the hospital's bed for the event. The doctors wanted to charge me $1 for the pic, but I figured this one can be on them since we paid for Cooper's tubes surgery this year.
Another example of a bed race team
Loving the rain
Yes, you are seeing this correctly- there is food in Cooper's mouth that he was eating all on his own. They are chips, but who cares? It's food, people! He's eating! Time for some dry clothes
