Just Be Warned- TMI to follow….

We confirmed that Cooper does have a double ear infection at the ENT this week. He’s going back in two weeks for a final evaluation by another ENT on getting tubes. He was prescribed a super powerful antibiotic. I asked what side effects it carried while we were discussing this with the ENT. He mentioned the usual diarrhea but said as long as he had the meds with food he should be fine. We’ve tackled enough ear infections and tried a variety of antibiotics over the last two years without many complications from the medicine itself. Since this one was so strong, Ben and I have both been very careful to make sure Cooper takes his medicine right after breakfast and right after dinner.

This brings us to yesterday. Cooper came home from daycare and had lunch and took a nap- pretty typical. At almost 3:00 on the dot I hear a huge scream come from Cooper’s room. I ran down the hall to his room and opened the door. I was so unprepared for what I saw- Cooper and his crib covered in poo. I have no idea how it got so far so fast- it was covering everything. He had had a diaper blowout of epic proportions- bumpers, blankets, pillows, socks, pants, shirt- covered. I won’t go into any further detail, I realize I have probably already past the TMI step here—if you’re even still reading at this point! Needless to say Cooper was scared since it had just happened and woke himself up in the process. I quickly got him to the bathtub and called Ben upstairs to handle the crib cleanup. Thankfully we were both at home when this happened- Bailey was trying in her own way to help clean up which was extra special. Thanks, Bailey, thanks a lot.

Cooper finally calmed down after his bath and happily settled in to watch some of the movie “Cars”. He also got to open a birthday present he got last year that has been put away this whole time- his Mack truck from Papa O. I think Cooper has forgotten about the incident, but I doubt Ben and I will be forgetting it any time soon.

Oh my! Someone got the curse of the Omnicef? Go to the pharmacy and ask them for lactinex granules. They are proniotics that you can mix in applesauce or yogurt. And keep him off the milk for a bit.

What a horrible mess! I feel for you!
