Cooper has had a Spiderman plush doll for a few months. It is similar to the one pictured above, but instead of pulling his Spiderweb there is a button in his hand and chest- if you press the button on his hand a web-slinging noise is made, the button on his chest and Spiderman will say a few lines about it being crime fighting time. Cooper has recently shown interest in bringing him into his crib with him at nap and bedtime, and I have noticed a few funny observations about this:
- Instead of calling him Spiderman, Cooper calls him "Dupeman" because he thinks he is Superman. No matter how many times I have said Spiderman, the request is always for "Dupeman".
- Dupeman has a fleece web blanket about the size of a washcloth attached to his arm. It can be hidden in his sleeve or taken out for when Dupeman needs to sleep. Cooper insists the blanket is his and always tries to remove it from Dupeman's arm but it's sewn in and not budging.
- Dupeman has a few different settings that you can change by opening a velcro section on his back. One of these is a 'sleep' mode where he shuts off after 15-20 minutes. Being the smart mommy that I am, I changed the setting before putting Dupeman in bed with Cooper. Being the not-so-smart mommy that I am, I made this change within Cooper's view. As soon as Dupeman was in his crib he had opened the velcro at the back and changed his settings to 'daytime'.
- At nap and bedtime it sounds like Cooper and Dupeman have wresting matches on a regular basis with random web-slinging noises thrown in for fun.
- Sometimes after Cooper is asleep he rolls on Dupeman and I can hear a web-sling or phrase over the monitor. Too bad the 'sleep' mode never stays once in Cooper's presence. Thankfully he has yet to wake up after one of these moments.
Cooper and Dupeman just finished up with another round of crib wrestling and now all is quiet with Cooper and Dupeman, both are napping peacefully.
