Weekend in Texas

A few weeks ago Abby and I took a trip to Texas to visit my family for the weekend. We had a great time and I tried to take some pictures even though I left the camera at home by mistake. So, here are phone photos instead!

Abby had a terrible flight to Texas. Thankfully it's a direct 2 1/2 hour flight. I have had some bad flights with Cooper before, but I think this one takes the cake. She cried for about 3/4 of the flight despite by best preparations for her and a morning flight time. Finally, around the time we started to descend to land she fell asleep like this....

After we landed she was all smiles and was excited to see Grandma! She also insisted on rolling her own suitcase through the whole airport, even while she was seated in her stroller. I hadn't intended to bring her suitcase at all, but she insisted so I used it to hold her backpack of plane entertainment items and her blanket. Sadly no picture of her rolling her own suitcase through the airport was taken- I was a little frazzled after the flight. It did attract quite a bit of attention from other travelers and airport employees though. I think some of them thought I was making her carry her suitcase like that, but no, it would have been much easier to have let me take it. Or not bring it, but she wasn't having any of that though. Instead, I have a picture of her at lunch, all smiles for Grandma and me while enjoying a fresh tortilla.

Abby also loves her cousin Natalie! She likes to hold her hand in the car if they are ever riding together. Abby knew that the carseat next to hers was for Natalie too, and if she wasn't in the car she would say "Na Na?" wondering where her cousin was.

Abby has love for her cousin Nathan too as evidenced in this picture of her planting a kiss on him at breakfast one morning. Not the first or last time that happened during our visit!

Abby also loves her Uncle Mark. Here they are having fun on a Costco run.

Abby warmed up to her Aunt Karen this trip too, but I didn't get any pictures of them together. They seem to bond better when mommy is not around!

Abby also had a great time with Grandma and Papa, but I don't have any pictures of that from this trip. She slept great at their house, which is probably a first for her! She is usually a great sleeper at home, but elsewhere is much more restless. This time she slept like a champ though, and it helped make our trip even more enjoyable.

The flight home was 1,000% better than the flight to Texas. It was around the same time of the morning, also direct. Abby doesn't like the sun in her eyes, even at 30,000 ft!

Abby was very happy to see Ben when we got to Nashville, and Cooper when we picked him up from school that afternoon, but as soon as we landed and were headed home she fell asleep and had a great nap!

Thanks Grandma, Papa, Karen, Mark, Natalie and Nathan for a fun weekend visit!
