Hello, Hello!

Happy 2012!! We had a busy and fun filled holiday season this year. We kicked things off at Thanksgiving with a trip to Texas to visit my family and from there we just sped right through until New Year's. For Christmas this year we hosted Grandma and Papa O, Kim, Kyle, and baby Mesa at our house and had a wonderful time! So good in fact that I forgot to get any pictures taken during their visit! Grandma O was nice enough to mail me some that she got though, so all is not lost! Here are some other pictures from that time of some of the things we have been up to in the last month...

Abby is full of attitude. I think we need to start calling it Ab-itude. I get her signature crossed arm "NO" from her frequently. It's a good thing she's so stinkin' cute! This bathtub pic shows off her Abitude perfectly...

Here is Abby, enjoying Cooper's present from Santa this year- a drum set! Has Santa gone crazy or did he also bring Ben and I some noise canceling earphones? The answer is neither! Cooper hadn't asked for anything and then he sat on Santa's lap at his kindergarten class party and asked for drums. When I asked him later why that's what he wanted he simply said "Because I want to rock the house." Well, clearly, there's no arguing with that! He and Abby are both enjoying making lots of noise on the drums. Also, regarding Abby's bib- she insisted on wearing one the whole time Mesa was at our house. As soon as Mesa went home she was done with them again. Silly girl!

Here is Abby demonstrating how much she enjoys the gift Santa brought her- a toddler 4 wheeler. This girl is in LOVE with her 4 wheeler. She rides it as much as she can, inside and out if she can get it, and refuses to let Cooper share when he asks to drive her around. We're working on the sharing, but apparently she has also been gifted with the stubbornness of the rest of our family.

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it is a big tradition in the Nashville area to see the Opryland Hotel all lit up with Christmas lights, both inside and out. Last year due to the floods in Nashville in 2009 they weren't open. This year marks the first year back to it, and the crowds were huge. We met some good friends and took the indoor river boat ride to get a good view and escape the crowds a little while we were there.

After Christmas we finally got around to making the Rice Krispie houses I had planned for Cooper to do before the big day. Better late than never, and we had lots of fun with this project.

Finally, at the end of the year we had a really beautiful day, so we went hiking. We hiked a trail called the Fiery Gizzard that is part of the South Cumberland State Park. It was so beautiful and we had the best time hiking that day! Abby did well in her backpack carrier as long as Ben and I took turns with the backpack. Cooper added some rocks to his collection and was thrilled. We are all waiting for that next nice Saturday so we can head out again.

Finally, on New Year's Even we got together with some good friends to celebrate all that 2011 was and all that we hope 2012 will bring. We have been very blessed in so many ways and are so thankful to all our friends and family for the light they add to our lives.
