Vacation Wrap Up

We just arrived back from Texas today. It's been an eventful long weekend! We left Thursday afternoon and drove to Little Rock. We woke up Friday to Cooper with croup-like symptoms- barky cough, slight fever. We picked up some medicine and continued on our way arriving at my parents house on Friday afternoon. The only major hang up was traffic in Austin on Friday afternoon - yuck! Saturday Ben, my sister, and I headed down to the Alamodome to pick up all our registration gear for the 1/2 marathon on Sunday. Cooper and Natalie had a slumber party with Grandma and Grandpa Saturday night so that Ben, Mark, Karen and I could go to the Salt Lick for dinner. Ever watch Man vs Food? It was featured in the Austin episode and is as good as it is featured to be. Ben could not believe we had never taken him there before. Sunday was race day! I had slept poorly the night before, and the prior two nights before that and woke up with a headache and sore throat, but I popped a couple of Tylenol and headed down to the race with Karen and Ben. After a lot of waiting for our corral to be released we were on our way. I was not able to run much, but I did complete the 13.1 miles. That became my only goal- just finish. And, I did. Cooper and Natalie went to a birthday party for Natalie's neighbor at Build a Bear Sunday afternoon and Cooper had a great time. Then it was Monday already and time to go home. I woke up Monday after the race with a fever and tons of sinus issues and ended up sleeping in the car almost the whole way from San Antonio back to Little Rock. I slept a little better at the hotel last night and we got back home this afternoon. Headed in to see the doctor tomorrow to see what I could possibly take other than Tylenol to feel better. Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Karen and I pre-race. Nice porta-potty background!
Stinky and tired, but finished!
Ben, who had no trouble completing the 1/2 marathon
Karen, who stuck with my slow pace a lot longer than I know she wanted to. Thanks!
